Safety Tips

Does every one in your home know how to call 911 - the emergency number for FIRE, SHERIFF, or MEDICAL emergencies?

Smoke Detector

1. Is there a working smoke detector on every level of your home?

2. Is there a working smoke detector near every sleeping area of your home?

3. Do you test your smoke detector every week, vacuum it monthly, and change the battery when you change your clock?

Escape Routes

 1. Does every member of your family know two ways out of their sleeping area, one inside the home, and one through an exterior window or door?

2. Have you practiced both escape routes during the past year?

3. Have you practiced using a meeting place when you practiced your escape routes?

Can Your House Number Be Seen?

Is your home address posted where your driveway meets the subdivision or county roadway? The sign should be non combustible material - metal - with 4" reflective(3M Scotchlite) and contrasting numbers on a reflective and contrasting background. Your address sign should be positioned so that it can be seen as fire trucks approach your driveway while coming down the street. The sign should be at least 3 feet off the ground and on either side of your driveway within 12 feet of the roadway.

If your house can't be seen from the street, is your home address posted on your house with the same address with the same style numbers as on the sign at the end of your driveway?
