SOURDOUGH RURAL FIRE DISTRICT MINUTES The regular meeting of the Sourdough Fire District Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman Dave Kraft at 8 PM on June 18, 2001. Trustees present were Kraft, Harper and Bachman; absent were Geddes and Dayhuff. Chief Crandell was present as were members of the Public: Kandy Rose, Sourdough Rural Fire Department Supporters, and Carol Pranka, retired Captain, Tucson, AZ FD. Minutes of May 21 were presented. Motion by Harper, second by Bachman. The minutes were approved. The fiscal report was presented. Motion by Harper, second by Kraft to accept the report and approve warrants greater than $300. Passed and included in the record. The Chiefs report was presented and is included in the record. Chief Crandell requested approval of a formal scope of work engineering study for the station septic system overhaul/replacement to include possible future facility expansion/relocation. MCA Annotated permits Fire Districts to retain a firm by direct selection when costs would be less than $10,000. (The meeting toured the property for an overview.) Moved by Bachman and Second by Kraft to retain Allied Engineering for this purpose. Motion passed. The Chief's Report also revealed that the Engine 7 upgrade anticipated in the action plan would exceed GVW by 2,000 lbs. The trustees responded favorably to a request that new engine purchasing information be presented at the July meeting. This new engine would replace Engine 1 that was taken out of service several years ago. SFD will host a county-wide fire training exercise on June 27. This will be staged from the Station and will encompass an area from Trooper Trail south through Triple Tree Subdivision. All trustees are invited to observe. Kandy Rose reported that the Hyalite Meadows Homeowners Assn. has formed a Community Emergency Management Team of residents, after hearing a presentation by Chief Crandell. Kandy will be on July meeting agenda to discuss proposal to honor past SFD personnel. The next meeting will be on July 16, 2001. The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 PM |
