Attending:

Board Chair called the meeting to order at 7:40 and adjourned at 9:35 p.m.

Items discussed:

  • Nothing was pulled from the Consent Agenda and Minutes for July and August Special meeting, as well as, Treasurers Report were accepted by Dayhuff's motion with Larimer's second.
  • Review and discussion on draft of ByLaws as presented by Brian. This draft will be presented at our next trustee meeting for adoption.
Comments from absentee trustees will be solicited by Chair.
  • Chief's Report asking for basic discussion on
    a) Boards desired involvement on disposition / direction of South Third Station, and,
    b) Gallatin Gateway Fire Board is asking for mutual agreeance from the Gateway, Sourdough/Rae Board of Trustees regarding the stability of the jurisdictional boundaries in the Cottonwood Canyon/Road areas. The boards position is looking for direct involvement in the decision making process for disposition of the South Third Station. The board would like to concur with the Gateway request and Brian will draft a letter to the Gateway Fire Trustees in recognition of the connecting boundaries at Cottonwood Canyon with said departments. Additional items discussed under the chief's report included: Some extensive community Involvement with note of the Community Breakfast set for Oct. 9th, Configuration in staffing of the stations, Safety equipment purchase with the $48,000 grant moneys which our matching 10% will be within one year, and, most discussion on Service Assessment Process to the district with the concept of a service continuum. The board will be looking at a set of metrics in this continuum that we feel appropriate. Other items under Chief's report: compensation packages to staff and Brian will be drafting a written summary for this, concept of tax incentives for fire fighters which presently do not exist - congressional support for this needs to be lobbied for, final plans for completion of the So Cottonwood station needs to be resolved as was evident by water in the basement during the open house, discussion on the Gallatin Forest boundaries dialogue with National Forest authorities, and, the 911 dispatch center should provide Brian with "run times" for the month from their computer system.
  • The Board of Trustees would like to give much deserved recognition to all staff and community that were involved in the 9-19-04 Open House for the Cottonwood Station.

Estimates are that we had between 250 to 300 people attended and the reaction was very positive. Rides on the fire apparatus provided a constant draw. A heartfelt Thank You to all.

  • Of note, Brian can not make a third Monday meeting in November and the Board may want to consider meeting on November 8th instead.

Draft open for comment Respectfully Submitted, Steve Dayhuff
