SOURDOUGH RURAL FIRE DISTRICT The regular meeting of the Sourdough Fire District Trustees was called to order at 7:38 p.m. on May 21 st . Present were: Treasurer Pete Geddes, Trustee Jack Harper, Vice-Chair Steve Dayhuff, and bookkeeper Scott Muller. Absent were: Chairman Dave Kraft, Secretary Don Bachman, and Chief Brain Crandell. No members of the public attended. Geddes moved to approve the April minutes. Harper seconded approval with the correction of a spelling error. Motion passed unanimously. Geddes presented a request for annexation from residents of the North Ridge subdivision. Short discussion followed led by Harper as to the nature of the subdivision and if Chief Crandell had any concerns regarding water supply or fire protection in the subdivision. Geddes mentioned he had been in contact with Crandell and to the best of his knowledge Crandell was fully aware of and supported annexation. Harper asked the chief to report any concerns at the next board meeting. Geddes moved to approve request for annexation, Harper seconded, passed unanimously. Geddes carried Bachman's proxy in favor of annexation. Geddes presented the Treasure's report. Two warrants over $300.00 were presented for signature. Geddes moved to approve the warrants, Dayhuff seconded, passed unanimously. Muller presented 2000 audit and final statement of financial position. Approximately 10 minute discussion followed. Muller advised board the mil levy election put us $2,991 over budget. Geddes introduce letter of commitment for a $550,000 loan from Farmer's State Bank. Action and discussion on the letter was tabled until next board meeting and Harper requested copies of the letter be distributed to each board member. Geddes (who as you can see did a lot of work;-) ) introduced letter from Ed Blackman, Gallatin County Fiscal Officer, requesting the district's FY01-02 budget by June 6 th . In a memo to the board, Crandell requested submitting a preliminary budget until the County reports on the current mil value. Geddes will contact Blackman and report back the board in the event a special meeting is required to set the budget. Geddes presented Chief's report. Accepted with minimal comment. Board members again recognize that prevailing meteorological conditions continue to produce extremely hazardous fire conditions. Dayhuff noted his conversation with Kandy Rose, president of the Supporters of Sourdough Fire and their effort to honor past and current firefighters, board members and Sourdough residents whom have contributed to the SFD.
